DVDShrink Flash Guide
2.3 [June 25, 2003] for total newbies. It attempts to show just
how easy using DVDShrink really is without all the technical jargon.

Many DVD Shrink errors are due to the dvd being dirty or scratched
(one of the good reasons to backup your dvds). If you do experience an
error, try cleaning it with water and drying it off by wiping with a lint-free
cloth from center to edge (not in a circular motion). Or you can try
ripping with DVDDecrypter. If you do, you must rip
ALL FILES or to .iso.
Main issues:
--Layer break isn't removed (doesn't affect my dvdplayer
just a slight pause)
--RCE protection isn't removed if your doing a 1:1 Full-Disk
copy. Doesn't apply to Main Movie Only or Re-Author mode. See here for
how to remove RCE protection.

AutoShrinkISO 1.6
released October 22, 2003 by NYPlayer (works
with DVDShrink 2.3 and 3.0 betas)
After DVDShrink is done transcoding, mkisofs.exe creates .iso and DVDDecrypter
burns that .iso. Everything is automatic once you choose what to author
in DVDShrink.

---Overview of process---
Put movie DVD in DVD-ROM drive
Put blank DVD±R in dvd burner
Start AutoshrinkISO
Set DVD-ROM drive letter
Shrink Files set hard drive letter.
ISO Image can be another hd/partition or the same as
Shrink Files
DVD Label uses one from DVD automatically or set your
own. Can process from hd.
Create Image Only creates .iso image
Create Image & Burn creates .iso image then burns
.iso with DVDDecrypter.
Shutdown create .iso image is created and/or burned
the computer shutsdown.
Cleanup & Shutdown same as above but also deletes
.iso image D:\tempiso\CASTLE_IN_THE_SKY.iso
Include DVD Rom Content this will copy over any software,
JACKET folder, etc. Make sure you leave enough room in your DVDShrink
calculations for the DVD Rom Content.
Click Start
Click Open Disk to have it begin analyzing the DVD. Follow the DVDShrink
backup guides.
Click Backup!
Click OK to begin encoding
When DVDShrink is done encoding the video file mkisofs will begin creating
.iso then DVDDecrypter will burn that .iso. Your
done!
Warning: don't change the Target Folder in DVDShrink
as it'll be automatically set based on the volume label. Also don't click
shutdown in DVDShrink. AUDIO_TS folder is automatically
created if non-existent.
Cleanup and Exit deletes the target folder and video
files
Exit No Cleanup exits program leaving video files on
hard drive
Initial Configuration of AutoShrinkISO
Requirements of AutoShrinkISO
-- mkisofs.exe and cygwin1.dll (are
bundled with AutoShrinkISO) - creates .iso image
thanks to Coujo
of Imgtool Classic for modifying mkisofs.exe
-- DVDDecrypter to
burn .iso
--DVD-ROM and DVD Burner
--9GB free harddisk space
- works with NTFS and FAT32 (win98/95) partitions Split Image option
--If you get 'component comdlg32.ocx not registered error' install
install-ocx.exe

the bytes will be in red.

Requirements of AutoShrink
-- ImgTool/Nero or VSO
CopyToDVD or Instant Copy
-- DVDDecrypter for
1:1 DVD-5
--DVD-ROM and DVD Burner
--4.5GB free harddisk space
Initial Configuration of AutoShrink
--Put blank DVD±R into dvd burner. Start ImgTool.
Verify settings, Save Settings to create ImgTool.ini
file.
--Open AutoShrink and set all the paths to ImgTool, DVDDecrypter,
and DVDShrink and Save Settings
--Choose to burn with either ImgTool or CopyToDVD
--ImgTools Options may be set and saved
--Set options for CopyToDVD within the program itself (eject, shutdown,
etc.) Make sure sourcename is set for the Label.
Notes about AutoShrink
--DO NOT use funky characters for volume label
!@#$%^&(*).+|\. Only use _ underscore and abc123.
--If dvd is 1 layer (less than 4.37GB) then it'll be ripped with dvddecrypter
to an .iso and that .iso will be burned with dvddecrypter.
-- If you don't wish for it to burn do this check Skip 1:1
and you can use DVDShrink for a 1 layer dvd.
--If you wish to do 1:1 copies I suggest ripping manually first with dvddecrypter
to remove RCE protection or verify that it doesn't have RCE protection
first ...see here for RCE Protection Removal.
--If you forget to clean out d:\target_folder don't worry as DVDShrink
will prompt you to delete them.
--If you get 'component comdlg32.ocx not registered error' install
install-ocx.exe
--If you run AutoShrink and the window doesn't appear install this reg
fix which will reset the position of the window to 0, 0 AShrinkFix.zip
--Thanks to CouJo
for ImgTool and adding CLI to allow this.
--Thanks to nyplayer for
going through multiple revisions and writing AutoShrink
--Thanks to mpauley for
releasing the source to shells which nyplayer could then modify
--Thanks to Lightning
UK! for the awesome DVDDecrypter
