Mepis Basic Configuration

Remeber if your booting kernel 2.6.x choose USB even if your using a PS/2
mouse.

Mepis Linux has terrible monitor detection so it's almost a given that
you must choose your correct monitor configuration. Default 1024x768@70Hz
is bad for the eyes. Usually after choosing your monitor you should be
at least @76Hz which is better for the eyeballs.

Simply Mepis doesn't come with nvidia 3D driver so install nvidia-glx
then change nv to nvidia and restart your computer. Quick
test is right click on desktop | Configure Dekstop | Screen
Saver | OpenGL Screen Savers | choose Euphoria (my fav) | Setup
and Random..click Test. If it goes really slow then you
didn't install the 3D driver. If it's smooth your all set. If you have
an ATI card..I'm not sure how to get 3D accerlation installed.

eth0 ip: is your ip if your using a network card. If your on a DHCP network
it should be all automatic.
Computer name: set it to whatever you want..just identifies computer
on your LAN
Computer domain: doesn't matter..only in corporate enviroment
SaMBa workgroup: make sure this matches with your other clients
on your LAN if you wish to share files between them.
