Japanese on Mac OS X Tiger

Go to System Preferences | International | Languages
If Japanese (Nihongo) is set on top then menues will be in Japanese.

Formats you can change the date system to display in Japanese without changing the whole system menues to Japanese. Also Metric is available too for those who are accustomed to it.
Here you can check Input Method for example Romaji, Hiragana and Katakana.

System Preferences in Japanese
TextEdit preferences in Japanese. You need not change the menues to Japanese if you don't wish to and can still input in Japanese. Just showing for native Japanese.
Hiragana and Katakana
Hiragana and Katakana freeware is a program to quiz your knowledge.
Here's it'll show you the hiragana and you'll type in the pronunciation.
Alternatively you can have it show you the reading and you choose the correct katakana or hiragana.

JEDict Japanese Dictionary
JEDict is shareware but it'll never expire just doesn't have all the features. I use it and it's great study aid and dictionary.
JEDict also has Kanji look-up by radicals.

Here's the different Kanji you can have it show you to quiz yourself or just study.
