Best Homebrew Nintendo DS Games

Recently went through tons of homebrew games and these are my favorite ones. All ready to play and DLDI patched for R4/M3 Simply so you can just start playing them and saving works. Just unzip and copy onto your memory card.

All of the homebrew games and apps below are the current versions as of May 2007.

Warcraft Tower Defense

Warcraft Tower Defense - comes with 13 maps. Similar to Desktop Defense.

TowerDefense.zip Warcraft Tower Defense DLDI patched . TowerDenfense.nds must be in your root dir on memory card with \Maps directory also in root.

Set DS

Set DS - the game set, find a set of 3 cards, must be either:
all the same color or all different
all the same number or all different
all the same shape or all different
all the same fill (hollow, shaded, filled) or all different.
To learn how to play or try it online see official site or fan site.

War of the Weeds

War of the Weeds - has 5 different games, every game works great, looks beautiful, however, you can't exit a game in progress you have to lose or defeat it. Hexaweeds, pop, water, picross, fill.
Weeds.zip

* Hexaweeds: Your weed converts enemy weeds to form a bigger group. You can change your group's color to blend into other groups, getting bigger and bigger... Conquer the whole screen in less than the given number of moves to win

* Pop: you have a 11x11 grid of blocks. Pop groups of 2 or more to remove them. Clearing a whole column will make new blocks enter. Get more points than the difficulty level asks for and you win

* Water: the water source is located at the center of the screen. Turn the pipes around to water all the weeds. Higher difficulty gives much bigger levels.

* Picross: pretty explicit... Picross on DS! Yay. Ok, it does have a major flaw: I used levels found on gamefaqs from nintendo picross games for testing purpose and didn't get enough time to add my own levels instead. The level won't change until you get the whole grid right

* Fill: simple but pretty addicitive game: move your weed by 3 spots vertically/horizontally, or 2 in diagonal, and try to fill the whole screen. Sounds simple, but is very challenging

Wordup

Wordup - kinda like Boggle combined with Tetris.

Omalone

Omalone - is a abstract strategy board game where the object is trying to push your opponents pieces off the board. You must have more influence than your opponent to do so. The most polished homebrew game there is. This plays exactly like Abalone.

Phidias

Phidias - drawing app which lets you save to .bmp. Features include pencil, brush, smudge, blur, eyedropper, paint bucker. Here's a couple of pictures drawn by users from the homepage.
Phidias.zip
Phidias.nds can be located anywhere on the memory card but the brushes must be F:\Phidias\brushes where F is your root of your memory card.

LMP-ng iPod Clone

iPod Clone (LMP-ng 1.02 patched with DLDI for M3/R4) comes also just put mp3s or oggs in a directory or subdirectories. Looks like an ipod and functions exactly like one too. Moonshell is crap for one reason, it can't do recursive directories like LMP-ng can. MP3 files can be located anywhere on your memory card and LMP-ng will find them.
iPod.zip

Use fingers or touch pen is for the most part self explanatory.
Adjust volume by spinning in a circle.
Tap middle to navigate song mode then spin in a circle.

Volume up/down - R or L trigger (hold)
Navigate song - Dpad R or R & L trigger (hold)
Next song - A
Previous song - Y
Pause - B
Menu - Dpad L or X
Select - Lock buttons

Puzzle Maniak

Puzzle Maniak is based off Simon Tatham's Portable Puzzle Collection which is for PC, Mac and Linux and now being brought to the DS. It's still in the early stages and the graphics are basic for now but will be updated soon enough. This is by the same author and graphic designer who brought us Omalone so I know this one is going to be awesome.

Comic Book DS

ComicBookDS is awesome even if you don't read comics. Need a few PDF for reference. DS will most likely never have a PDF reader so this is the next best thing.

DSOrganize

DSOrganize includes Calendar, Day Planner, Address Book, Todo List, Scribble Pad, IRC chat, Calculator, Web Browser, Browser (images, text files, html (no tables or links though) ,mp3s). It can even stream mp3 streams from the net.

MP3s - I still prefer iPod Clone for mp3 since it can do recursive directories. But for audio books this is not too bad though.
DSOrganize.zip

_LDS_scriptures.zip 2.44MB all in html and all with Bookmarks for quick navigation.
Contains BoM, DC, PoGP, NewTestament, OldTestament and misc LDS stuff.

Bookmark files (.bmf) show in DSOrganize Browser but to hide them open corresponding .html file then navigate to first bookmark (press L Dpad). Press A once to delete bookmark and press A again to re-bookmark that location. Press B to exit file and now it's hidden.

Press Select to see help file. L and R go page up or page down. L Dpad and R Dpad jump up or down to next bookmark.
